Frequently Asked Questions
About the product
What is the difference between the cold process and hot process methods?
The cold process method uses only the heat generated by the chemical reaction to slowly mature the product at a low temperature. In contrast, the hot process method applies heat to produce it in a shorter period.
Because the cold process method does not apply heat, it can make the most of nature's blessings without damaging the active ingredients of the raw materials, such as vegetable fats and oils and herbs.
What are the characteristics of cold process soap?
Generous amounts of natural glycerin, a moisturizing ingredient, are dissolved in the soap. After washing, just the right amount of oil remains, leaving your skin feeling moisturized as if you had applied cream.
Additionally, because no heat is applied, natural beauty and moisturizing ingredients such as oils and herbs, as well as fragrances, can be freely incorporated, allowing for the creation of soaps with a wide variety of unique characteristics.
How is the cold process good for the skin?
While soap is fundamentally meant to remove dirt, The Cold Process is regarded as a skincare item that cleanses the skin while also conditioning it. Because this manufacturing method allows for easy incorporation of various ingredients, you can experience a wide range of skincare benefits.
Does it contain anything that’s bad for the skin?
Contains no synthetic surfactants, preservatives, biocides, or petroleum-derived ingredients that may irritate the skin.
A gentle soap made with naturally derived ingredients.
Don't you use any non-plant-based ingredients?
Most of our products are plant-based, but some soaps contain animal-derived ingredients such as honey, horse oil, squalene sourced from sharks (a skin-conditioning ingredient), and placenta extracted from animals (for anti-aging).
Plant-based products are marked with a VEGAN logo on their respective product pages on our website.
Please consult our staff for more details.
Is it okay to wash my face with body soap? And vice versa?
The facial formula has a relatively high moisturizing effect, while the body formula is formulated to prioritize a clean, refreshing wash. Although each is tailored to its intended use, there is no particular problem with using the body formula on your face or the facial formula on your body.
How long does it last? How should I store it?
With one use per day, the following estimates indicate how long each will last:
・Face… approx. 3–4 months
・Hands… approx. 3–4 months
・Body… approx. 2–3 months
・Shampoo… approx. 3–4 months [short hair] / approx. 2–3 months [long hair]
・Conditioner… over 6 months
・Kitchen… approx. 1–2 months
After use, dry thoroughly and store in a place where it will not come into contact with water or hot water, such as in the shower.
Are The Cold Process products good for the environment?
By not using plastic bottles for packaging, we help reduce the volume of plastic waste and address marine litter. Furthermore, because no heat is applied during manufacturing, we also contribute to the advancement of a low-carbon society.
