We use shampoos and treatments every day to keep our hair looking beautiful, but sometimes we don't even realize it, and we don't completely remove all the silicone ingredients in styling products, shampoos, and hair care products, as well as minerals from tap water. These build up on the surface of our hair every day, causing various problems such as hair that is difficult to dry, loses volume, loses shine, and becomes greasy. This is called "build-up," and if it's not eliminated regularly, it can be difficult to maintain beautiful hair.

Healthy hair is moisturized, has a natural shine, is smooth to the touch, and has elasticity and strength, and the scalp is clean and free of dryness and excess sebum production.
Natural hair refers to the original state of hair that has not been colored or permed and is undamaged.
It is important to eliminate build-up and return to a natural state to develop a healthy scalp and hair.

Dry and rough hair and scalp

A common way to get rid of buildup is to wash regularly with a strong cleansing shampoo or use an assist shampoo specifically designed to combat buildup, which will remove the buildup and reset the condition of your hair and scalp.
However, shampooing with strong cleansing power can strip away excess oils, leading to a variety of symptoms such as dryness, dandruff, brittleness, stickiness, roughness, itchiness, frizz, and tangles.
THE COLD PROCESS shampoo uses highly moisturizing oils, which gently resolves the problem, but depending on the condition of your hair, the above situation may occur.

At THE COLD PROCESS, we call the process of eliminating build-up and resetting your hair the detox period. The duration and symptoms vary depending on the condition and type of hair, so some people may experience it in a week, while others may take up to two months. You won't know how your hair will look after washing until you try it.
It may interfere with your daily life until all the problems are resolved, and the product may not lather when you first start using it.
Even if this is your first time using solid shampoo, healthy people will find it relatively easy to use without feeling detoxified.

・The treatment is likely to come off immediately after coloring or perming

Because it detoxifies the skin, using it immediately after coloring or perming your hair may cause the results to fade.
You will need to use liquid shampoo for at least a week, and then switch back to THE COLD PROCESS shampoo.
Additionally, hair damaged by hair coloring is more susceptible to the strain of chemicals, which can have a significant impact on how it feels to use during the detox process, and using cold-process shampoos that contain a lot of oils and natural ingredients can make your hair feel heavier.
If you leave the build-up, it will become difficult for colorants to penetrate, so if you repeatedly color or perm your hair, it is best to consult with your hairdresser about how to prevent damage and how to care for your hair before using it.
If you use styling products such as wax, lather it up well, massage it into your scalp, and rinse thoroughly.

・Liquid items and solid items cannot be used at the same time

To detoxify while relieving symptoms, it is best to gradually increase the frequency of use of THE COLD PROCESS shampoo. After shampooing, it is recommended to use the conditioner bar sold as a pair, or a vinegar rinse made by mixing vinegar and water.
If you use a liquid treatment immediately after shampooing with THE COLD PROCESS products, you will end up reapplying the ingredients that were previously removed, so we do not recommend using them at the same time.
At first, you may need to use some tips, such as moisturizing your hair thoroughly with treatment on days when you use liquid shampoo.

・Natural out-of-bath items are recommended

During the detox phase, it is important to moisturize thoroughly to alleviate symptoms, but when using products, choose ones with as few additives as possible, such as pure oils and natural balms, to prevent buildup.

Cold process soaps that use coconut oil or olive oil can easily react with the components of hard water and cause soap scum.
Furthermore, it does not lather well and the soap tends to remain in the hair, which can harden and get tangled in the hair.
If you apply conditioner or treatment while the soap is still in your hair, it may not blend in and the soap scum may get tangled in your hair, worsening the condition.
Also, even with hard water, there can be a big difference between hair types that are suitable and those that are not.
You will need to take more precautions than with soft water, such as using a citric acid rinse or vinegar rinse to neutralize and remove soap scum, changing the shower filter to mitigate the effects of water quality, and rinsing thoroughly to reduce soap residue.

Liquid products contain ingredients that give your hair a smooth, glossy finish, so you can feel the effects relatively quickly and choose the product that suits your ideal hair type from a wide range of options.
On the other hand, THE COLD PROCESS hair care products contain ingredients that are said to be good for hair, but their purpose is to cultivate healthy hair and scalp, leading to the natural smoothness and shine that comes from them.
With continued use, your hair will become smooth and shiny, but you may feel uncomfortable using it or with the texture as your hair grows, and you may find it difficult to use until you get used to the method of use.
Please note that depending on your ideal hair type, liquid care may be more suitable.

There is no problem with shampooing with soap from the FACE/BODY category other than hair care, but some products are more suitable than others depending on the ingredients they contain, so please check separately for more information.
Generally, we recommend HAIR-specific products for those who are using solid shampoo for the first time, but if you want to use just one product for your whole body, we recommend a medium-sized product with neither too strong cleansing nor too strong moisturizing power, or a soap + conditioner that contains ingredients that are said to be good for the hair and scalp.
Products with strong cleaning power (charcoal, rice bran, etc.) may leave your hair feeling rough or difficult to run your fingers through after washing, regardless of whether they are detoxifying.
Also, products with a strong moisturizing effect (such as Rose & Placenta and Goat's Milk & Pear) may feel sticky or heavy, but this does not affect their use.

Unlike soap, conditioner bars are oil balms made from solidified oils, so they do not lather.
It is easy to use if you apply it directly from the center of your hair to the ends, being careful not to get it on your scalp, and then brush it evenly.
If you want to apply it to the roots, do not blend it directly into your hair. Instead, take some oil balm on your fingertips and gently rub it in as if combing your fingers.
Furthermore, if you apply oil before using a hair dryer, your hair will become sticky, heavy, and difficult to manage.
Using only the conditioner bar can also cause stickiness if you apply too much, so we recommend adjusting the amount used, such as using a small amount of the conditioner bar, when using it for the first time.

・Consumption amount varies depending on hair length, condition, purpose, and water quality

If you have long hair or if the condition of your hair or the quality of your water makes it difficult to lather, you may need to use a larger amount at one time.

・When using on the whole body

If you use one soap for your hair, body, and face, the amount you use will increase accordingly, so if you use a body net or a facial foaming net for everything except your hair, you will be able to lather well with a small amount of soap and reduce the amount you use.

・About the conditioner bar

Conditioner bars are solidified oils rather than soap, and since you don't need to use much at a time, they can last more than three months even for people with long hair.

・About shampoo and conditioner combinations

We have shampoo and conditioner items available as pairs, but you can also combine the honey & camellia and Job's tears & cedarwood combinations, or any soap other than shampoo with your favorite conditioner bar.
For those who want to focus on hair care, we recommend Honey & Camellia (contains silicone), and for those who want to focus on scalp care, we recommend Job's Tears & Cedarwood (silicone-free).

There are different types of solid shampoos

THE COLD PROCESS soaps are individually handmade without the application of heat.
However, even though they are all solid shampoos, there are some that are simply liquid shampoos in a solid form, and many people seem to be using them without knowing this.

・Discern the difference by looking at the ingredients list

When looking at the ingredient list, products that are processed into liquids often contain many additives and have a more complicated ingredient list, as the cleaning ingredients are synthetic surfactants and contain chemical ingredients such as hardeners and stabilizers to make them solid.
On the other hand, cold process solid shampoos use plant-derived oils as their cleansing ingredients, with essential oils as the main ingredients. They have a simple ingredient list and are characterized by having few chemical additives.
